Chicano Studies 20: The Mexican American in California

Tues/Thur 3:00-5:00PM  Room -TBA Begins 2/13/18

This course surveys the political, economic, social and intellectual history of the Pacific Coast from the Pre-Columbian Era, the Spanish Era, the Mexican Years and lastly, the Anglo Presence, with special emphasis on California.  A greater emphasis is given to the role of the Chicano/Latino people in the economic, political, social and cultural development of California from the time of the Spanish Empire to the present.

Engineering Graphics & Design 111:2-DComputer-Aided Drafting with AutoCAD

Tues/Thur 3:00-5:00PM  Room - Library Lab 1 Begins 2/13/18

This course is an introductory course in 2-Dimensional computer Aided Drafting using AutoCAD.  Students learn the basic tools to create and edit a simple drawing.  Topics include object obstruction, object properties, layers, orthographic projections, auxiliary views, parametric tools, basic dimension, template building and plotting.

Introduction to Robotics MIT 220

Tues/Thur 3:00-5:00PM Library - Computer Lab Begins 2/13/18

This introductory course in robotics emphasizes hands-on experience to build a basic functional robot. Students learn about electric motors, servos, sensors, switches, actuators and their application in a robot. Students learn Basic Stamp computer programming and its integration into a working robotic unit. The course also includes mechanical assembly, connecting electronic components, wiring and soldering, and testing.

Child Development 1

Tues/Thurs 3:00-5:00PM  Room -TBA Begins 2/13/18

This is an introductory child development course that examines the major physical, psychosocial, and cognitive/language developmental milestones for children, both typical and atypical, from conception through adolescence. There is an emphasis on interactions between maturational processes and environmental factors. While studying developmental theory and investigative research methodologies, students observe children, evaluate individual differences, and analyze characteristics of growth and development at various stages.

Communications 101

Tues/Thurs 3:00-5:00PM  Room -TBA Begins 2/13/18

In this course, training is offered in effective speech composition and delivery. The course assists in building confidence in the delivery of original presentations, acquaints students with the sources of speech materials, and develops discriminating listening through speech analysis.

You can receive help with your FAFSA Application, for the next three Fridays, beginning with today, December 1, December 8th and December 15th, in the Library, Computer Lab 1.  Any questions, see Mr. Mejia, or come into the College Office, during nutrition or lunch.

Students and teachers can register for free to have instant access to all online material!

We would be grateful if you could advise any interested students and their families as well as your teachers about this unique opportunity.

Students (if AP® Italian is not taught in your school):

  1. Students who want to study on their own for the AP® Italian exam of May 2018 may register for free on edX to get access to course materials and work independently.
  2. Students who want an interactive experience may register for one of our Online Live Instruction Classes, offered in conjunction with the free AP® Italian Language and Culture course. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate from Wellesley College with a letter grade that they may present to their high school for registration on their transcript. Our Online Live Instruction Classes are conveniently offered in the evenings and on Saturdays, and will start on February 5th, 2018 and end on April 27, 2018. Register now to secure a spot in a class of your choice!

Teachers and students (if AP® Italian is taught in your school):
Our online material will help teachers design an interactive and academically challenging AP® Italian Language and Culture course. Teachers and their students register for free to access all online material.
