Engineering and Design

Do you like to design? Do you like to create and to use your hands? Do you like to collaborate with others?  Do you like to problem solve? If yes, then Engineering and Design is your pathway!

The mission of the Engineering and Design pathway is to provide rigorous standards-based curriculum and real-world engineering experiences to prepare students for a wide range of college and career paths. Upon completion of this course of study the students will be critical thinkers, effective communicators, digitally literate and environmentally conscious.

9th Grade: Introduction to Engineering Design: Students apply the engineering design process and engineering standards to hands-on projects like designing a new toy or improving an existing product. Students learn 3D Computer Aided Design using AutoDesk.

10th Grade: Principles of Engineering: Students explore mechanisms, strength of structure and materials, and automation, and then they apply what they know to take on challenges like designing a self-powered car.

11th Grade: Digital Electronics: Students explore the foundations of computing by engaging in circuit design processes to create combinational logic and sequential logic as electrical engineers do in industry.

12th Grade: Senior Portfolio: Students apply the skills learned from 9 –11th grade to identify a real-world challenge and then research, design, and test a solution.
