A Congressional nomination is required to attend a U.S. Service Academy, and students can verify their Congressional district by visiting https://www.house.gov and inputting their zip code in the top right corner of the webpage.

4 year Colleges: 

CSU:  Application start October 1st.  Deadline November 30

UCApplications start August 1st.  Application submission period November 1st-30th

Private Colleges:  You can apply to private colleges via Common App (most popular)  and The Coalition

2 year Colleges:  

Application period varies but generally in April

ELAC classes are available at SHS each semester to get a chance to start college early.

Community colleges offer certificate and transfer options and now use High School transcript for class placement.

FAFSA is the central portal for college/trade school financial aid (loans and grants)

Opens October 1st.  Apply early to get best chance for largest award amounts

 

Step 1:  Make FSA ID

Step 3:  Webgrants for Students (to funnel financial aid to college of choice)


You can receive help with your FAFSA Application.

Information you will need to complete your FAFSA:

Social Security Number

Parent's 2017 Tax Form

Parent's/Guardian Social Security Number

Parent's Marital Status

Parent email address, if they don't have one, create one for them

Do your parent's file together or separate?

You will also need to create a FSA ID, for yourself and one of your parents/guardian

Peerlift Student Ambassador Opportunity

Peerlift Student Ambassador. The student leader, preferably in 10th or 11th grade, would work with Peerlift to do grassroots outreach at Schurr HS and the surrounding area.  The student would receive further opportunity to collaborate with our team of college freshmen, many of whom are attending Stanford, Yale, Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania this year.  To read more information, please go to our get involved section or go over our application form here.

The ACT is an equal alternative to the SAT.  Some students do better with the ACT.  For more information

ACT fee waivers are available at the College Office and generally require students to qualify for free or reduce lunch.
